I Remember You
I Remember You
Paul writes to the Philippians in 1:3-6 about what he does every time he remembers them; he prays for them thanking God with joy. I have a very special person that God lead to me during the time I was her Commissioned Lay Pastor at her church. Norma had a serious heart problem along with very weak lungs. Her by-pass surgery went well but she was very weak. On three different occasions I rushed to the hospital because she was failing. Each drive to the hospital, which took about 30 to 45 minutes, I would begin praying for her with joy for what she had brought to my life and the life of the people in the congregation, as well as her own family.
When I would get there I would greet her grown children and enter into her room. I would take her hand in mine and tell her was with her. I would feel a gentle squeeze which I returned. We’d pray together and somehow I knew that God wasn’t “ready” for her yet and I would tell her. That was seven years ago.
I speak to Norma everyday now and every time I hear her voice I thank God for her in great joy! Since her heart surgery Norma has been ordained an elder and has taught the confirmation class for the past five years. In fact, this was her last year teaching after a whopping 52 years of teaching Sunday school.
I know Norma is the one who God began a good work in and I am thankful everyday for being gifted by God to know and love Norma.
Who is God calling you to remember constantly praying with joy for every time you remember this person?
